One Call Hire Ltd recently provided equipment for the reconstruction of the existing Newtown Road railway bridge. This included construction of realigned carriageway in order to increase headroom clearance and carriageway / footway widths under the structure, removal of 4 bridge decks and south abutment, new steel/RC abutment on piles, 2 free-issue decks, road widening / resurfacing.

In total this contract is worth approximately £2m and One Call provided a New Holland 23Tonne excavator that was used on a 52Hr possession to clear existing ballast from the track and then replacing after completion of the bridge installation with a 800Te Lattice jib crane. The excavator was being lifted from one side of the embankment to the other by a 250Te Liebherr A/T mobile crane, which provided some impressive looking photographs.
